As I stare at my computer screen thinking, “This is difficult. What am I doing? Who is this for? Why on earth would someone read this unless they were my friend and even then why? This is painful.”
The truth is, I would rather be sitting in a dentist chair having a root canal, or a mammogram, or giving birth (which will not be happening). These things seem easier and less painful.
Then somewhere deep inside the recesses of my being, I know.
I JUST KNOW.
Cleansing, shedding, rebuilding, helping, birthing, soaring.
Rising up.
This is for me. This is for you.
As I sit here listening to Andra Day singing “Rise Up” I am reminded:
Rise Up
You’re broken down and tired
Of living life on a merry go round
And you can’t find the fighter
But I see it in you so we gonna walk it out
And move mountains
We gonna walk it out
And move mountains
And I’ll rise up
I’ll rise like the day
I’ll rise up
I’ll rise unafraid
I’ll rise up
And I’ll do it a thousand times again
And I’ll rise up
High like the waves
I’ll rise up
In spite of the ache
I’ll rise up
And I’ll do it a thousand times again
For you
For you
For you
For you
When the silence isn’t quiet
And it feels like it’s getting hard to breathe
And I know you feel like dying
But I promise we’ll take the world to its feet
And move mountains
Bring it to its feet
And move mountains
And I’ll rise up
I’ll rise like the day
I’ll rise up
I’ll rise unafraid
I’ll rise up………
Thank you to those who are moving mountains with me. I am grateful.
